The Antinori family has also been running a winery in Apulia since 1998, a region that is an interesting addition to the sites already in existence precisely because of its favourable climatic conditions, which are influenced by the sea. The Tormaresca winery is actually made up of two estates: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte DOC region and Masseria in the north of Salento. What is particularly interesting is that organic viticulture is also pursued in Castel del Monte. As a result, highly rated organic white wines such as the Pietrabianca Castel del Monte DOC, which is made from Chardonnay and the autochthonous Fiano, can be found here, alongside balanced red wines with organic quality such as the single-variety Bocca di Lupo Castel del Monte DOC, which is made from grapes of the age-old Aglianico variety and features intense tannins and a spicy-chocolate nose. The Apulian wine-growing region, however, is particularly known for one grape variety beyond the country's borders: the Primitivo grape. Wines made from this grape, such as the Torcicoda Primitivo Salento IGT, are distinguished by their spicy and powerful character and high alcohol content.
